The University Grants Commission (UGC) approves Various Skill based Vocational Education and training Courses often integrated in to internship scheme like the B.VOC (Bachelor of vocation) and community colleges programs their courses are designed for empowerment and cover a wide range of sectors including IT, Media and retail management and are often developed in consultation with industry and aligned the NSQF (National Skills qualification framework).

The UGC had launched a scheme on 7 February, 2014 for skill development based Higher Education as part of School College/University Education leading to Bachelor of Vocational (B.VOC) degree with Multiple entry and exit points, considering the implementation Modalities (D.VOC, AD.VOC, B.VOC, B.V.E.d and so on up to M.VOC, etc. in various education sectors) the UGC Guidelines had been revised in the year 2015. The government/society/trust or a company may also set up and independent Community College to implement the Scheme and can be offered courses be the extant guidelines.
The UGC has issued guidelines for integrating Vocational Education and skills into Higher Education including offering Bachelor of Vocation (B.VOC) degrees Community Colleges and internship/apprenticeship embedded degree programs these initiatives aim to improve student employability by aligning academic learning with industry needs providing Multiple entry and exit points and enabling continuous skill development aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
